Lake Street Dive Pittsburgh Concert reviews
Lake Street Dive, Excellent
Lake Street Dive played at the Palace Theatre, Albany October 6th. They have added Akie Bermiss on keyboards and vocals, the rest of the lineup is the same, Rachael Price - lead vocals, Bridget Kearney - bass and vocals, Mike Calabrese - drums and vocals, Mike "McDuck" Olson - guitar, trumpet and backing vocals. They are all excellent musicians and their act has gotten better. They continue to write and record music and their live show production, particularly lights and sound is much better than it was the last couple of times I saw them. I first saw them in small venues and when they got to larger ones the sound was poor and the lights were only adequate but this show was sweet, the sound was not too loud and mixed well. the lights were nice, the band was tight and the flow of the show was smooth. Rachel Price is usually out front swaying and singing but since she has recently broken her foot she spent much of the show seated on a throne. She got out of it and scootered out front for a few songs and was joined by the rest of the band for a couple of tunes. See them when you get a chance I'm convinced they'll be playing bigger and bigger venues, see them while they're still in mid size halls.
